Loans/Hardship Withdrawals

Voluntary savings plans are designed for long-term retirement planning purposes and therefore employees should use other methods to save for immediate or short-term expenses. However, the UF 403(b) plans do allow for loans or hardship withdrawals under very specific circumstances and according to the plans’ loan and hardship policy statements.

To Request a Loan from your UF 403(b) Plan

  1. Review the Loan Policy Statement
  2. Visit Retirement Manager and follow the prompts to generate a Certificate of Eligibility
  3. Contact investment provider for paperwork
  4. Submit the following documentation to UF Benefits:
    • Certificate of Eligibility
    • Investment provider paperwork

To Request a Hardship Withdrawal from your UF 403(b) Plan

  1. Review the Hardship Withdrawal Policy Statement
  2. Visit Retirement Manager and follow the prompts to generate a Certificate of Eligibility
  3. Contact investment provider for paperwork
  4. Submit the following documentation to UF Benefits:
    • Certificate of Eligibility
    • Investment provider paperwork
    • UF Employee Statement for Hardship Withdrawals
    • Supporting documentation for hardship withdrawal requests as described in the UF Employee Statement
