Qualifying status events encompass changes in family or employment status. Examples include marriage, birth of a child, dependent eligibility changes, divorce, death, time away from work, retirement, transferring, or leaving state employment. Life Events / Work and Life

Reporting Qualifying Status Changes

All qualifying events must be reported within 60 calendar days. The effective date of plan changes varies based on the benefits package and plan.

   Termination of Employment

Understanding COBRA Benefits

The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) allows workers and their families to continue group health benefits under certain circumstances, such as job loss, reduced hours, transition between jobs, death, or divorce.

Continuation of Benefits Information

After termination from the university, COBRA details will be sent to your home address. To ensure timely delivery, update your local home mailing address in the University of Florida directory.

 


 

   Update Your Contact Information

Update Information in ONE.UF

  1. Visit https://one.uf.edu/directoryprofile/.
  2. Sign in using your GatorLink username and password.
  3. Under Personal Addresses, click “Edit” for the address you want to modify.
    • Street Address – Enter your U.S. physical home address.
    • Mailing Address – Enter your U.S. local home mailing address.
    • Legal Address – Enter your legal address of record.
      *Note: Foreign nationals maintain a foreign/international address for tax purposes and should not modify the Legal Address field.
  4. Click “Submit” to save your changes.
  5. Review your emergency contact details and other profile information for accuracy.

Update Information in People First

Email Address

  1. Go to peoplefirst.myflorida.com/peoplefirst.
  2. Sign in using your People First ID and password.
  3. Click on Contact Info (or navigate to Personal Info > Contact Information).
  4. Edit the Notification Email row to update your email address.
  5. Click “Save” to confirm the changes.

Mailing & Home Address

Your mailing and home address in People First reflects the address on file with UF. Follow the above instructions to update your address.
